Air J. A. Russell, of Palmerston North, acted as judge in the pig classes at the AATiangaiei A. and P. Show on Friday. Advice lias been received that Rev. E. A. Gillespie, a former vicar of St. Peter’s Church, Pahiatua, ha;, died in San Remo, Italy. ' Rev. D. Mclvor, minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Marton, who has intimated bis desire to retire owing to failing health, will take up bis residence in Raglan. During the past week two members of the Manawatu and AVest Coast A. and P. Association, Messrs F. C. Raikes (Oroua Downs) and J. AA r . Robinson (Foxton) have passed away. At its meeting yesterday afternoon the committee of the association passed a motion of condolence with the relatives of both gentlemen. Mr Robert McLean, father of Mr A. Ale Lean, of AA’eraroa, Levin, passed away at an early' hour in the Palmerston North Hospital on Sunday. He was 62 years oi age and was a member of a well-known Napier family. His pastsing followed an illness of only a few days’ duration. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Alfred Harry Tripe, a member of the well-known AVellington family, who bad resided in Rotorua for the past thirty years. He took a keen interest in community activities and was associated with a number of district sports bodies, particularly the Rotorua Racing Club, of which lie had been a vice-president for a number of years.

A tribute to the excellent service rendered the Alanawatu and AVest Coast A. and P. Association over a long period of years by Air J. A. Nash was voiced by Mr M. A. Conway at a meeting of the general committee of the association yesterday afternoon, ’when lie gave notice of his intention to move at the annual meeting that Air Nash lie elected an honorary life member. Air T. R. Ilodder spoke in support of Air Conway’s proposal, eulogising Air Nash’s sustained service to the association. and the suggestion was agreed to amid applause.
