WELLINGTON MELTING. GREEK SHEPHERD WINS. KARL SCORES IN TWO-YEAR-OLD . RACE. SPRINT TO FRIESLAND. WELLINGTON, March 16. The Wellington Racing Club’s autumn mooting was continued at Tronthani today in fine and bright weather. There was a fair attendance and the track was in good order. The totalisator handled £26,450. The Gay Chief inquiry was adjourned till to-morrow to got the evidence of the rider, P. Burgess. An inquiry was held into W. J. Broughton’s handling of Korcro in the Autumn Handicap, the judicial decision being that Broughton committed an error of judgment but nothing to warrant further action, Greek Shepherd won the principal race, the Autumn Handicap, and the March Handicap was won by Friesland. He was well back early, but the fast pace set by Brown Pearl and Peter’s Pence suited him admirably, and when he moved up on the turn and challenged in the straight his stamina asserted itself and he won evon more comfortably than on the lirst day despite his rise in weight. He came down on to the. course proper attended by Laughing Lass, and in behind were Wagner, Pelmet. Deficit, Double Gift, Moquette, and Top Notch, Several of thorn made efforts after the leader m the run home, but lie comfortably held his place. The latter pair came very fast in the straight and joined the issue with the leaders, but Pakanui finished host and won narrowly from Chief Ranger, who just heat Hunting Mars, who was right off the track at the finish.
