MANDATED COLONIES

QUESTION OF RENUNCIATION. NOT CONSIDERED AT HOME. 1 REFERENCES IN COMMONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received February 13, 11.50 a.m. RUGBY, Feb. 12. In answer to Sir Henry Pagc-CToft, at the House of Commons question time, the Colonial Secretary (Mr J. H. Thomas) stated that His Majesty’s Government had not considered, and were not considering, handing over any British colonies or territories held under mandate. A London Press Association cable states that, apropos the discussions in Europe concerning the need for a review of colonial possessions and mandates, 25 Conservatives, including Mr L. C. M. S. Amery and Lord Winterton, have tabled a motion in the House of Commons opposing the transfer of British colonies and mandated territories “for the welfare, protection, and enlightened government of which Britain holds the honourable trust.”
