EFFORTS FOR SETTLEMENT. SYDNEY, Feb. 12. A large a.nd representative deputation of business men, clergv and municipal councillors waited on tbe actingPremier (Mr M. F. Bruxuer) to-day and emphasised the hardship likely to result ii the Port Kembla strike is prolonged. Mr Bruxuer declared that the machinery of, the Arbitration Court was adequate to deal with this dispute and the Government would not attempt to usurp the functions of the Court. , , The Mayor of Wollongong stated that Australian Iron and Steel, Ltd., had advised him that the company was not prepared to negotiate lor a settlement of the strike until the men resumed work us directed by the Court.
