PAHIATUA.

PAHIATUA, Feb. 11.' At the meeting of the Pahiatua Borough Council on Monday the works committeo recommended that the following footpath* be tar-sealed during the present autumn: Sedcole Street, west side, from Mrs Delhanty’s to King Street; Huxley Stret, west side, from Mrs Mason’s to King Street; Huxley Street, west side, from Mr J. O’Brien’s; Albert Street, from TuiStreet back about four chains southward on west side; Crewe Street, west side, from Mr Conway’s houses to Mangahao Road; King Street, north side, from Mr Lucas’s gate to Tyndall Street; George Street, north side, from Main Street to Sedcole Street. The report was adopted. At a meeting of the Pahiatua Boxing Club a motion of condolence was passed to Mr G. Oxley and to his family in their recent sad loss. In moving the motion Mr Walsh said that the late Mrs Oxley had a sweet and kindly nature, was very unselfish and intensely sympathetic. She was always one of the very first- to respond to a call for assistance. The motion was carried in silence, ‘members standing. The Pahiatua Rac’ng Club’s sub-commit-tee, appointed to investigate damage to the main grandstand caused by the recent gale, reported at a meeting of the club executive this week that they had called upon Mr J. After a lengthy discussion of proposals submitted by Mr Lee, the club decided that immediate repairs should bo effected. In view of the fact that there was not sufficient time to call tenders-for the work members decided to ask Mr Lett to undertake the work under the supervision of Mr Lee, the architect.
