CROQUET
MANAWATU TOURNAMENT. WIND AFFECTS PLAY. Weather conditions were; perfect for the resumption of play in the annual tournament of the Manawatu Croquet Association this morning, but the wind soon began to trouble players. The tournament is in its third day, and is proceeding smoothly under capable management. Following are further results:—• C GRADE HANDICAP. First round. —Mrs Moxon (7) beat Mrs Fairey (10), 26—14. C GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP. First round. —Miss McFarlane beat Miss D’Atlij 26 —7. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. \ First Life. First round. —Mrs Bryan beat Mrs Davidson, 26—20. Second Life. First round.—Mrs Sears beat Mrs Dickel, 26 —20; Mrs McMurray beat Mrs Wilson, 26—12. HANDICAP DOUBLES. Semi-Final. Mesdames Barron and Batchelor beat Mesdames Davidson and Anderson, 26—16.
