MINISTER RETIRES.

REV. D. McIVOR. Acting on urgent medical advice, Rev. D. Melvor has tendered his resignation as minister of the Marton-Tu-taenui charge of* the Presbyterian Church. Mr Melvor, it will be recalled by Palmerston North residents, on one occasion conducted the annual Anzac eervice at the Showgrounds. A special congregational meeting was held in Marion on Tuesday evening, and a motion was passed deeply regretting that Mr Melvor had found it necessary to retire, and placing on record appreciation of his faithful service during the 14 years of his ministry at Marton. When the matter came before the Wanganui Presbytery yesterday deep regret was expressed at the minister’s departure. ■ “In bis charge lie has laboured faithfully as a preacher and pastor and endeared himself to his people,” said members when resolving to place on record the excellent work that Mr Melvor had done for the church. The resignation will take effect from March 31 and. Rev. C. W. Watt has been appointed interim moderator of the Marton-Tutaenui charge.
