APPRECIATION OF SERVICES.
TRIBUTE TO MR J. LINKLATER,.“During the whole of the time 1 have been clia’rman of the Manawatu County Council I can honestly state that in all the many requests I had to bring before him Mr Linklater never once let me down,” stated the chairman (Cr. TV. E. Barber) at yesterday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council, in bringing forward a motion expressing the council’s appreciation of Mr Linklater’s services during his term as member for Manawatu in Parliament. “He worked hard all the time he was in office, and was thorough in all the jobs he undertook,” added the chairman. Cr. J. Boyce: He was one of the best “toilers” in the House. The following motion, moved by Crs. Barber and Boyce, was then carried unanimously;—“That this council places on record its appreciation of the long and valued services rendered to the inhabitants of the Manawatu county by Mr J. Linklater, formerly member of Parliament for the Manawatu electorate; and also that a letter he forwarded to him thanking him for his practical help and valuable assistance in county matters during his term of office; further, that the council congratulates Mr C. L. Hunter on his election as member for the district.”
