BULLS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Feb. 9. Mr M. Ividd returned home last week from the Wanganui Hospital. His condition is a little improved. Mr K. Dwyer’s little girl also returned from the same institution, having made a good recovery from serious scalds. Mr and Mrs C. L. McDermott left,, on Saturday for a short holiday at Apiti. Owing to showery weather, most outdoor sports and pastimes had to be postponed on Satiu'day afternoon, there being no play on the bowling and croquet greens, tennis courts, or polo ground. If conditions are favourable on Wednesday, it is likely that practice polo games wilt bo jdayed. The cold southerly wind and drizzling rain did not deter members of the Rangitikei Defence Rifle Club, who put on some fine scores on Saturday, P. Thorby, who has scored many possibles here, added another at 500yds, after only dropping a point at 300yds, a fine performance. Scores at 300 and 500yds were as follow : P. Thorby, 49—50—99; A. Stevenson, 48— 49—97; H. Meads, 46-48-94: K. W. Dalrymple, 46—45—91: A. W. Amon, 41— 41—82.

The Sports Club’s evening sports were got off on Friday in fine weather, and before a good number of spectators. Fields were large, and Mr A. Chaincy sent them away in good order. The handicapping of Messrs W. Ellery and K. Wilson resulted in several close finishes for Messrs J. Preston and J. H. Ellery to judge. Results are,as follow: —Running; 100 yds, D. Stantiall 1, R. At this month's meeting of the Women’s Institute the competition for the best article made out of old felt hats was won by Mrs C. Button (tea cosy), and Miss Wicks (floor mat) was second. Mrs J. Ellery won the competition for homemade bread, Mrs C. Button being runnerup. The judges were Miss Routhan and Mr M. C. Gould. Mrs J. Trickcr, junr.. gave an interesting talk on her trip to Honolulu, and was accorded a vote of thanks. The next meeting will be the annua! one, and it was resolved to invite Airs Kelso to give an address, failing which a social afternoon will be held. BULLS, Feb. 10.

Air J. Homes has returned. from the Wanganui Hospital, and is. convalescing after an appendicitis operation. Aliss box, of Napier, who lived in Bulls for many years, is a visitor here at present. Aliss Patterson, of AVanganui, is the guest of Aliss Broughton, Bulls. Bulls defeated Flock House on the Damain cricket ground very easily. Bulls went to the wickets and put on 197._0’Con noil batting steadily for 55. and K. Field (48) and F. Gifts (35) getting their runs in good time. Forrest, of Flock House, took 6 wickets for 22. The trainees replied with 41, the only double figure scorer being Thelwell (16). 1 Following on, Flock House had lost 4 for 59 at stumps, Forrest being undefeated with 17.
