(From Our Own Correspondent.) UMUTOI, Feb. 6. Miss llommings is at prosent spending a fow days in Palmerston North, where she is the guest of her sister, Mrs D. Cray son. Mrs J. I 1 orbos has returned homo after spending a short holiday in Feikling. . . The members of the TJmutoi •Bible class paid a surprise visit to the residence of Mr S. Hemmings to bid farewell to Miss Dulcie Hemmings, who is leaving the district prior to her marriage next week. The evening passed pleasantly with games and competitions, whilo several games, of nine-pong were witnessed. Competitions were won by Mrs 11. Patchctt, 3VIr Patchett and Mr li. Maclvemsie. A mystery parcel” was finally presented to Miss Hemmings with best wishes for the future. The parcel when opened revealed a neat autograph book. Mr Patchctt took tho opportunity, on behalf of those present, to express regret at losing a valuable member. He added that Miss Hemmings had always been an enthusiastic member of the Bible class and she would bo greatly missed. Ho then called on the guest of honour to accept a handsome table-cloth and half-a-dozen serviettes to match, with host wishes for her future happiness. Miss J. Scarle presented Miss Hemmings with a dainty posy of geraniums. Messrs lv. Scarle and 11. MacKenzio also spoke of the regret at losing Miss Hemmings from their class and wished her every happiness in her future life. Miss Hemmings suitably replied, aftor which she was accorded musical honours. Tho opportunity was also taken to bid farewell to Mr W. Organ, who is shortly leaving tho district Mr Patchett said that Mr Organ had always been a keen member and all were sorry that ho was leaving. Supper was served by the ladies. Those present were:— Misses D. and 0. Hemmings, Mr and Mrs R Patchctt, Miss J. Scarle, Messrs S. Hemmings, sour., S. J. Hemmings, T. Hemmings, H. Hemmings. If. McKenzie, M. Scarle, W. Organ, IC. Scaric, N. Hart, R. Forbes, T. Sixtus, B. Hart, and B. Forbes.
