(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHUIIST, Feb. 8.
The first monthly meeting for the New Year of the Ladies’ Methodist Guild was field in the church vestry on Friday afternoon, Mrs C. A. Foston presiding. The business for the afternoon was to make arrangements concerning the golden jubilee of the church. It was decided to hold another meeting in connection with this at the end of tno present month, when arrangements will Ido definitely settled. Afternoon tea was served and provided by the hostesses, Mesdamcs Foston and Sumner. On Monday, 'Mr Foston leaves for Christchurch, where fie will attend the annual Methodist Conference. Mrs Foston will remain in Wellington visiting her sisters. Miss Eva Sumner has returned from a holiday spent at Foxton beach. Mr and Airs Finlay have returned from a visit to the South Island. Mrs Gaisford is at present spending a holiday in Wellington. Considerable damage was done in the Domain by falling treos caused by the storm. Work is in progress to have the playing area cleared so as to enable the school children to hold their picnic on Friday.
