FEILDING STOCK SALE.

GOOD MARKET FOR SHEEP. CATTLE PRICES STEADY. Notwithstanding iho off day and tho unpleasant woathor, prices remained steady at a good level at the Feildiiig sale on Saturday. , The entry was not a largo one comparatively having regard to the show and the ram fair of tho four previous days, but about 7000 lambs were offered. The market held very firm for good store lambs, while best quality young breeding ewes also made attractive prices A small entry of fat sheep sold at late rates, but for cattle there was not much inquiry. Some individual pens of fat ana forward steers returned a good margin to 'vendors, but generally speaking there was no movement in values. Fat cattle met, with a quiet demand. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Cov. Ltd., report a good yarding at I eliding" on Saturday. Being an off day it was not expected that a good sale was likely to take place, but despite the weather a particularly bright sale eventuated. Aged ewes were not soiling quite up to recent rates, but quality ewes with guaranteed mouths were in keen demand. Lambs sold freely, best quality wotlier lambs at about late rates, small lambs »nd ewe lambs showing an advance ot is 6d -per head. Only a few cattle were yarded. The sale, although on an off day, proved most satisfactory as regards values, with practically everything offered being sold at auction. A small yarding of store cattle met just a fair market. Ltd., report having offered an excellent yarding of good quality rams to a large bench of buyers at the 1' eliding nual ram fair on Thursday and Inday. Values as far as good quality flock rams were concerned showed a substantia rise on rates ruling at last years faninferior sheep were not sought after, an the sale throughout was quite the best e perienced for some years.
