STURDIER ENGLAND
PHYSICAL TRAINING PLAN. Physical culture centres for every area, with civilian sergeants-major to drill young people into a standard of fitness, and with organised games for town dwellers, are the objects of plans announced by the Board of Education to create a sturdier England. It is the first campaign to be launched on such a widespread scale. As an inaugural step the board urges the appointment of men and women area organisers, who will be the keystone of the whole structure of the physical education of school children and all young people. The hoard, while recognising the national importance of physical training, slums imitation of the efforts of some Continental countries to achieve success through centralised methods!
