OPIKI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPIKI, Jan. 22. Rev. A. Fotheringham, of Foxton, who is leaving the district shortly, on Monday evening gave a travel talk illustrating his lecture w:th lantern slides. His subject was India, and lus listeners found it both instructive and interesting. At the conclusion of the address, Mr Fotheringham was presented with a set of book ends from his parishioners in recognition of the esteem which they felt for him. He was also wished every success in his now district. Supper was subsequently provided by tbe Jadies of tlio parish. Owing to the death of His Majesty the King, the Ladies’ Sports Club decided to postpone their dance, which was to have been held on Anniversary Night, till a later date.

Mrs Craw, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs ICars. Mrs W. Williams has returned from Paraparaitmu. Mrs McDonald, who was the guest of Mrs Lankshear. has returned to Wanganui. Mr E. A. White and Mr W. White have returned from Auckland, where they spent an enjoyable holiday. Miss Voss, who has been the guest of Mrs Cooksley, left for Halcombe on Monday last.
