JANUARY 23, 1906. The first annual report of Ihe Tararua Cheese Company showed that operations had commenced on October 1, 1905, and £3lO had been advanced for cheese produced for which £SOO had been received? The output was a ton a week, the product being sold in M ellington. Sections in Ferguson Street Bast and Fitzroy Street had been offered for sale, but of 16 offered only two had been quitted, the prices being £2 10s and £2 a foot. The four-masted ship Susquehanna had been lost at sea and her crew had landed at the Solomon Islands. The vessel wa» of 3600 tons and had an international reputation for speed. The potao blight had swept through crops in the Otaki district, the natives experiencing great loss. The New Zealand people in Loudon hail entertained the members of tlie New Zealand Rugby team prior to their departure for home. . . The winners at the first day of tlie boxton Racing Club's meeting had been Federation, Swop, Bourrasque, Waitapu, Mnnarque, Captain Shannon, Windy and Bowman.
