SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

PRESENTATION TO MR J. FAHEY. Prior to the commencement of the siyimming carnival on Monday, night, Mr J. G. Eliott, patron, said; he had a pleasing duty to perform on behalf of the club, which wished to show its appreciation of the services that had been rendered it by Mr J. 1 Fahey, of Palmerston North, over a lengthy period of years. Mr Fahey’s interest m swimming was well known, i said. Mr Eliott, and the Feilding club i was extremely grateful for wlmt he: had done for it. Swimming generally in 1 the Manawatu Centre had also greatly | benefited by Mr Fahey’s interest in it, I and it was with much pleasure that Mr Elliott asked Mr Fahey to accept from the _ Feilding Swimming Club a presentation as a mark of its apprecia- !' tion and esteem of his services. { Replying, Mr Fahey said the uncx- ! pected gift was a great surprise to ! him, but he deeply appreciated the j kindly thoughts prompting it.
