WORK AT TRENTHAM. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. There was a plethora of galloping on the Trentham tracKS this morning, but much of it did not interest the train ers of the horses. The outside of the course proper was mainly used for the trials, but a number of horses working alone went on the inside grass. The weather was again brilliantly fine and the going was near perfect. Cuddle and Might were sent a full round (over 1J miles) and again Might came from behind to beat the mare b> a short length. The last mile took 1.44 and the last half 52 1-5. Cuddle, who is to be ridden in the Cup by A. Tinker, will be sent a rousing halfmile to-morrow morning. Silver Ring was responsible for the most notable time of the morning. Starting from the mile with Argentic, he was always nearly a length ahead of his companion, anti he was doing it well within himself over the concluding portion. They ran the first half mile in 49 1-5 and completed the distance in 1.39 4-5. Spiral easily heat llollai Prince over six furlongs in 1.19, the la6t half mile in olsec. Luwenlierg and Knock Out ran half a mile together in 49L. Queen .of Song went a mile alone in 1 42, the last half mile taking 54 3-5. Plato led Senior throughout six furlongs in 1.16 3-5. the last half mile in 51 3-5, hut Senior was running on well a length behind. Silk Sox sprinted half a mile, but was not timed. Kinnoull was given a solid round of pacing on the trial grass and when moved over to the plough for trotting bolted along the back before his trainerrider had regained control. He appears improved with his work since lus arrival. . , ~, Princess Doreen again beat Alter Monev by a couple ot lengths over six furlongs in 1.17 1-5, tlio last half mile in 54 1-5. Ni'dithiss and Ayresleigh ran seven furlongs in 1.31 1-5, the last half-mile in 55 3-5. . , , 1c Cricket and Deficit slipped over halt a mile in 49sec. Fulojoy comfortably beat boomerang over three furlongs on the trial grass in 37sec. c Diatomus ran the last half-mile ot five furlongs in 49sec. Sea Wrack easily accounted tor Ihe Squanderer over three furlongs on the trial grass in 36 4-5. Debliam was a length ahead of flarecourt after running seven furlongs in 1.30 3-5, the last half-mile in 51sec. Superex beat Wonderful by a length over half a mile in 50sec. Corroboree was two lengths in front of Blue Tiger after going the last halfmile oi five furlongs in 49 2-5. Several sets of two-year-olds were sprinted over short courses, but they came from marks at which timing was impossible. Moquette finished a length ahead ol impersonator. Miscal just beat Mandamus. Laughing Lass was a length in front of Toorak. Curston came from behind to cut down Cerne Abbas by a length and a-half. Double Gift was too good tor Nurse Nightingale.
