BOY’S DETERMINATION

CASE IN WAIKATO. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Jan. 21. Undaunted by the efforts of his em* plover to keep him home at night, a 10-yearlold Maori boy, clad only in a shirt, broke and entered the Post Office at lvinohaku, near lvawhia, and two stores, stealing £2 17s 6d in money and goods valued at £8 11s 6d. It was explained by the police in Court today that the youth had previously been under the supervision of the Child Welfare Department and had secured a position at Kiqohaku, where his employer, to prevent a recurrence of his conduct, took the precaution of removing the youth’s trousers each evening. The boy left his bed, clad only in a shirt, committing the offences enumerated. He was committed to the care of the child welfare superintendent and restitution of the stolen goods was ordered.
