PRIVY COUNCIL.

MAY BE SUMMONED. Received January 20, 1.25 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 19. It is understood that tentative steps have been taken to summon the Privy Council to Sandringham in the event of its becoming necessary to appoint Councillors of State. The King, if the procedure is followed of seven years ago, when he held the Privy Council in his sickroom at Buckingham Palace, would conduct the council from his bed, possibly with the councillors attending in an adjacent communicating room. The suggestion that the council may be held is supported liy the Prince of Wales having journeyed a hundred miles to London to see Mr Baldwin with whom Lord Hailsham spent an hour this afternoon. The responsibility of advising the appointment of councillors would fail to Air Baldwin and Lord Hailsham.
