The home team was dismissed tor 88 and at stumps Australia had made 5216 for the loss ot one wicket. • Richardson, upon winning the toss, sent in the home side on a wicket recovering from the effects of rain. Viljoen made a bright 40 in 45 minutes. AA’arner played stubbornly for liis runs. The others were unable to do anything against Grimmett and O’Reilly. Blown and O’Brien rapidly passed the Free State’s score belore the former was dismissed. AlcCabe played another dashing innings, and, although O’Brien was 46 when lie came in, was rapidly overhauling the Victorian at stumps. Scores; ORANGE FREE STATE. First Innings. Li a Sheffield Shield cricket match between South Australia, and New South AVales, South Australia, in their first innings, made 94 (Badcock 24, Bradman 0. White took eight for 31). New South AA’ales, in their first inningji have lost no wickets lor 14. AlcGilvray won the toss and sent South Australia in on a wicket damaged by ram at one end. All AVliite’s wickets were obtained at this end, but Bradman was caught off a bad stroke at the other end. Play was limited to 3.1 hours.
