(From Our Own Correspondent. 1 SHANNON, Jan. 20. Shannon Cricket Club continue to hold their lead in the championship. At Levin on Saturday the local eleven defeated Wcraroa by 40 runs. , Shannon made 153 (Porter 101, Moore 20, Roach 28). Wcraroa compiled 113 (Crammond 14, Cush 12, Miller 45, Roe 12). The Tennis Club held a guest afternoon on Saturday, though it was somewhat marred by a strong wind. Those present had an enjoyable time. The Women’s Institute picnic, arranged for last Wednesday, had to bo abandoned owing to bad weather conditions. Mr C. Lee has again entered the Palmerston North Hospital tor treatment. Mrs A. R. Blackwood, left on Friday for Dunedin on holiday. Ml* and Mrs A. E. Hyde have returned home from Paraparaumu. Mr and Mrs W. Brown (Auckland) are slaying with Mr and Mrs Christophcrson. Mr C. M. Todd, slationmaster at Mercer, is visiting Shannon, renewing old acquaintanceships. Mrs C. Crompton returned home to Wellington on Sunday. The Girl Guides who have been in camp at Paraparaumu returned home on Saturday.
