LAMB SUPPLIES SHORT. BEEF QUIET. Lamb market.—Steady with prices unchanged. Demand is improving, and market is short of supplies until steamers due next week arrive. Mutton marker. —Wethers and ewes; market steady for lightweights with tendency easier lor heavyweights. Beef market. —Frozen beef market quiet and unchanged. N.Z. baconor pigs.—Price has advanced easier. Prices tc-day are from gd to id lower than quotations with trade slow. New Zealand pigs.—Price has advanced slightly owing to temporary short spot stocks. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, lias received the following advice from its London 1 orfico as at close ol business last week: —The market is weaker for heavyweight wethers; lightweights remain steady. The market for ewes is _ rather easier; supplies arc more than sufficient to meet the demand. Lambs arc in short supply until tho next arrivals; the demand is moderate. ' There is a fair demand for beef. Trade generally is slow. Wethers, light, 5d to 6d per lb; heavy, 3id to 4|d; owes. 2RI to 3£d; lambs, 2’s, ?3d to Bd' B’s, 73d to 8d; seconds, 7-Jd to 73d; ox hinds, 33d to 3jd; fores, 23d to 2gd. Compared with last week’s quotations, wethers, 48 to 561 b, 3d per lb lower; 56 to 721 b, fd per lb lower; ewes, 64 to 7211), 3d per lb lower; lambs and others unchanged. Tho market for lamb is steady to firm. For mutton the market on the spot is weaker.
