BLINDNESS CURED.
WOMAN SEES FOll FIRST TIME. Miss Madge Brwer, of Wiltshire, 25 1 years of age, has gained her sight after a life of blindness. Nine unsuccessful operations were performed. The tenth was successful, though she cannot yet see objects in tlieir normal perspective, and only really enjoys colour.
She spent a recent week touring London with her mother. She thinks that the streets and public buildings are dreary in the day time but when they are illuminated at night they are delightful. She is excited to find so much colour in the underground railways, which she imagined were gloomy tunnels. She was fascinated by the pantomime ‘‘Jack and the Beanstalk” at Drury Lane, but to her the best part of a cinema display was the interval, when combinations of coloured lights were played upon a silken curtain. She had imagined that Buckingham Palace was remote from London life, ail'd was astonished to see that the King’s home adjoined a public street.
