PLAY AT DANNEVIRKE. Although weather conditions are not yet by any means satisfactory for play, the rain having given place to wind, good progress is being made -with the matches in the Hawke’s Bay provincial lawn tennis championships now being played at Daimevirke. S. Hooper, of Palmerston North, was beaten 6—l, 2 —6, G —4 in the first round of the men’s, singles, but in the second round of the boys’ singles, Hooper beat White, 6—l, 6—4. Hooper and Hooper, after beating G. and W. Hartgill, B—6, 15—13, in the first round of the men’s doubles, beat Morris anil Apperly, 6—2, 9—7, in the third round.
