OVER HIMALAYAS
ADVENTUROUS FLIGHT. PILOT NEARLY SHOT. BY TRIBESAIAN’S BULLET. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received January 18, 9.15 a.m. CALCUTTA, Jan. 17. After a- three months’ adventurous journey across Central Asia by lorry, Sir Eric Teichman, Secretary to the British Legation at Pekin, had a narrow escape from disaster when flying from Gilgit, in Kashmir to Rawalpindi. A tier crossing the Himalayas at a height of 15,000 feet in intense cold, the 'plane was flying over tribal territory when it was shot at, a bullet passing through the window near the pilot’s head. iNo one was injured. This was the first occasion that a civil ’plane had been flown from Gilgit. The occupants had a striking view of the unconqtiercd peak, Alanga Parbat.
