HAUPTMANN’S EXECUTION

SIXTY DAYS’ REPRIEVE. Received January 17, 1.45 p.m. WASHINGTON, Jan. 16. A few moments after the United States Court had declined Hauptmann n writ of habeas corpus, Governor Hoffman granted him a reprieve which will stay his execution for sixty days. The law permits no more than r-inetv days' reprieve. Governor Hoffman still hopes that either Hauptmann will make a confession, or for the discovery of new evidence.
