BIG PRIZES WON

[N OVERSEAS CONSULTATION. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Dec. 17. Tt has been ascertained that the first prize winner in a Tasmanian consultation of £12,000 is Mrs Grace Gould, wife of the Clutha county engineer at Balclutlia. This is the first time Mrs Gould has won a substantial prize, although five years ago she won a £lO prize. Asked what she intended doing now that she had won such a large sum of money, she replied: “I really, don’t know. It seems too good to be true, and I can hardly realise it yet.” Her husband, Mr Gould, who was much less excited, merely remarked: “Wait till the numbers go up!”

The third prize of £1250 went to Napier, the fourth prize of £IOOO to a Nelson syndicate, and the seventh prize of £250, to Dunedin.
