MINERS’ DISPUTE.

SETTLEMENT NOT REACHED. (British Official Wireless.) Received December 9, 8.5 a.m. RUGBY, Dec. 6. A statement issued by the Mines Department after the meetings between the Miners’ executive and the Secretary for Mines (Captain Crookshank) and officials of the Mine Workers’ Union and the owners’ organisation states that the miners’ representatives have informed the Secretary for Mines that the suggestions so far advanced on behalf of the owners could not be regarded as constituting a satisfactory basis of settlement. They have, therefore, asked Captain Crookshank to continue his negotiations, which he has agreed to do.
