WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT?

(To the Editor.) Sir, —A man with a keen sense of observation plus a well balanced and analytical brain; who sees a human need. Energised by courage and the desire for rightness, is prepared to stand alone and face the jeers of the crowd “if need be” for the good ot humanity. He stands shoulder to shoulder with the great men of the past who have fought for liberty and progress, and for the benefit of humanity, whereas a party man is just anyone who will back up the big leader and do as he is, bidden. If party habit is true democracy why not after the people have given their vote allow one man “the leader” to do the rest, instead of sending 80 men to do what in reality is only one man job. Now is the time to have courage and save humanity from money. lam
