POSTAL OFFICER.
FAREWELLED BY COLLEAGUES. Colleagues of Mr P. YV. Hunt, who has been a member of the Palmerston North Post Office for over twenty years, and has been transferred to Gore on promotion, gathered yesterday to bid him farewell. The Chief Postmaster (Mr 1). Black) in congratulating Mr Hunt upon his promotion, stated that liis departure was a distinct loss to the local office, as he was considered one of the most versatile officers of the staff. He presented Mr Hunt with a travelling bag ns an expression of goodwill from lii6 fellow ° Mr McSherry (supervisor of the telegraph branch) also praised Mr Hunt’s qualifications, congratulated him upon his promotion, and expressed regret at his departure. Other members of the staff also expressed similar sentiments. Mr Hunt suitably responded, thankthe sneakers for their kind renmrks anU his fellow officers for their thoughtful presentation and good wishes. -
