FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Nov. 19. Tho friends of Mrs Geo. Scadden, of Norbiton Road, will regret to learn that she is an inmato of the Palmerston North Hospital. The marriage took place at St. Joseph’s Church, Buckle Street, Wellington, on October 28, of Kathleen Mary, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs J. F. Desmond, of Wellington, and former Foxton residents, to Patrick William, eldest son of Mrs J. Cooney, of Wellington. The friends of Mrs J. Symons, of Gladstone Street, will be pleased to learn that she has now returned home from the Palmerston North Hospital where she recently underwent an operation. Mrs W. Robson and her daughter leit Foxton yesterday for Tangimoana where they will, spend a week before proceeding to Taumarunui. Mr E. Crosby, of Wellington, has taken up iiis duties as stat onma-ster at Foxton. Guide Christie, who disappeared on the Fox Glacier last week-end, was a cousin of Mrs W. Ogden, of Liddell Street, Foxton. A special meeting of the Borough Council was held last night for the purpose of passing a resolution in connection with the conversion of certain loans. The Mayor (Mr M. E. Perreau) presided. The Mayor explained that the Treasury had approved of a loan conversion scheme for the borough comprising an amount of £50,400. A comprehensive resolution was then placed before the meeting and carried. Tho annual report of the Foxton Surf and Lite Saving Club states that the club’s membership has been kept at a. high level and there had always been a good patrol on guard each Sunday and on public holidays. The Surf Cup was won by L. J. Thompson. The club is grateful for the donation made by its patron, Mr Linklater, which wiped off the club’s debt on its pavilion. This, together with the funds raised -from the various functions, has completely freed the club of debt and enables it to enter the new season in a sound financial position.
