(From Our Own Correspondnet.) TAIKOREA, Nov. 20. After weeks of wet weather, it was a pleasant surprise at the wcek’-end to get two consecutive days of sunshine, and wo thought slimmer had really come at last. This, however, was not to be, Sunday being a very doubtful day and on Tuesday the rain s.et in again as steadily as over.' Advantage was taken of the fine Saturday by tennis players there being the best attendance so far this year on the courts. The Cricket Club played the opening match of the season against Makowhai Camp. During the day refreshments were supplied by the home team, and a pleasant time was spent. As the second innings was not completed, the result was taken on the first innings only, Taikorea winning by 34 runs to 31. The detailed scores wore as follow: —Taikorea, first innings: Roy Algar, 4: A. Carrol, 5; K. Hancock, 2; D. Sexton, 9; G. Hobbs, 0: F. Carrol, 0;' C. Hehir, 7: J. Hehir, 2; M. Hehir, 3; Hulena. 1; R. Hana, 0: extras 1; total 34. Makowhai Camp: Northcroft, 8; Romcril, 3; Tofts, 8; Monaghan. 0; Aussie, 2; Pago, 0: To Hana, 0; Sullivan, 0; Dunn, 3; Hodges, 2; Porter, 0; extras 5; total 31. The friends of Mrs A. Burmcisfer, who recently underwent an operation, will bo ? leased to know that she is progressing avourably and has returned home.
