THE LABOUR PARTY.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln your issue of the 18th inst. there appeared correspondence from a person who styles himself “Equilibrium.” I would like to inform your correspondent that the people have awakened to the fact that having been placed on this earth they have a right to a fair share of the fruits thereof. This is the main plank in Labour’s platform. The people of New Zealand enjoyed better conditions in the days of l Ballance and Seddon and will again when Labour takes possession of the Treasury Benches after the 27th inst. Surely it does not give “Equilibrium” any satisfaction to see a child crying for bread. Your correspondent talks of confiscation; it is ridiculous. Can you imagine Mr Ormond AVilson, the Labour candidate for Rangitikei, being in favour of confiscation, or Mr J. Hodgens, a man who got his property by the sweat of his brow. Ido not see why your correspondent should be disappointed at Mr Hodgens having the assistance of Messrs Savage, Fraser, and Oliver. The Nationalist candidates have had the assistance of Messrs Coates and Forbes. Mr Mansford seems to be the only one flaying a lone hand, caused by having two policies, one for the city dweller and one for the farmer.—l am, etc.,
WORKER,
