A Hindu farmer in the Anantapur district of Madras, while ploughing his field, turned up a small stone which, on investigation by an expert, proved to be an uncut diamond, pink in colour, and weighing 20 carats. The farmer disposed of the diamond in Bombay, where he obtained R 5.6,600 (£495) from a jeweller.
