NOTES.
The throats of some of the political candidates in the Mannwatu and Oroua electorates must have been severely strained last night in trying to make their voices heard above the almost continuous patter of heavy rain on the iron roofs of the halls in which they spoke. At Whakarongo and Aslihurst, where the settlers gathered to hear Hon. J. G. Cobbe, the incessant din of pelting rain-drops was all too powerful for the audibility of the speaker, but. notwithstanding, Mr Cobbe, putting heavy pressure into his voice and, speaking from the floor of the hall, was able to finish his speech and to reply to a series of questions.
