OTAGO CLUB
PROGRESS MAINTAINED. The final committee meeting of the Otago Club for 1935 was held last night at the home of Mr J. S. Winton (vicepresident and one of the foundation members of the club). Those present were Mesdames F. Wilkinson, B. F. Barlow, A. M. Boyd, I. Inglis, It. Calder, A. E. Allen and R. McCulloch, Messrs J. 8. Winton, A. C. Allen, C. Page, R. Calder. T. Inglis and the secretary (Mr R. J. Wright). Mr Winton took the chair in the absence of the president (Mr A. J. Graham). The usual routine business was attended to and arrangements in connection with the annual general meeting, to be held in January, were discussed. At the close of the meeting the company were entertained by Mr and Mrs Winton and a pleasant time was spent by members talking over old times. Mrs F. Wilkinson, convener of the ladies’ committee, thanked the host and hostess for the evening and referred to Mr Winton’s willingness to help the club at all times. Mr Winton, in reply, said it was both a pleasure and an honour to have the committee with'them for the final committee meeting for the’year, and remarked that it awakaned memories of the inaugural meeting which had been held just five years ago in his home. The club had grown since then, and he attributed its growth to the loyalty, friendliness, and capacity for unselfish service which typified Otago people. He felt that the club was filling an important part in the social life of Palmerston North, and knew that it would continue to make steady progress.
