CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE

ANNUAL MEETING

ELECTION OF COUNCIL.

The animal meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, Mr A. J. Graham presiding. Others present were Messrs Iv. A. Henderson, F. A. Cousins, C. V. Cioclietto, F. G. Opie, H. Cunningliame, E. Low, D. Black, H. E. Townshend, 11. E. Edmunds, M. N. Wallace, J. H. Stevens, A. Stuart, T. R. Seaton, A. Clark and J. Hornblow.

The annual report was adopted as previously published. The balancesheet showed that the income during the year had been £172 18s 2d, including £l2B 12s 6d in subscriptions. There was a credit balance of £7 5s 7d on the year’s working. Twenty nfembers of the conned were elected as follow:—Messrs R. L. C. Aitcliison, E. G. Bennett. W 11. Brown, J. F. Carter, A. Clark F. A. Cousins, H. L. Cnnninghame H. E. Edmunds, H. B. Free, A. J Graham, I. E. Griffiths, K. A. Henderson, F. G. Opie, M. H. Oram, J. Selwyn. R,. H. Spencer, A. P. Stuart. J. H. Stevens, H. E. Townshend and M. N. Wallace.

The chairman congratulated the members on their election, and expressed the hone that they would have an enjoyable association with the chamber. Ex-officio members of the chamber were reappointed as formerly, together with Mr P. S. Larcomb (as secretary of the 50,000 Cluhh It was announced that the president and vice-presidents would be elected at a meeting of the council to he called shortly. The chairman thanked members of the chamber for the service given during the must twelve months, stating that it had accomplished a great deal. Businessmen should maintain contact with the chamber, whose monthly meetings were open to all members, though without vote except by those on the council. He hoped the chamber would become revivified, as it had a big field for activities. The chairman was accorded a vote of thanks, with acclamation, on the motion of Mr H. E. Edmunds who paid a warm tribute to his enthusiasm and efficiency.
