THE M.C.C. MATCH.
GREGORY’S SLOAV BOWLING
MELBOURNE, Nov. 18
After Victoria’s innings in the cricket match against the M.C.C. team had closed with nine wickets down for 332, an impressive display of slow bowling was given by Ross ..Gregory against the Englishmen. Puzzling the batsmen with his deceptive flight and spin he was unlucky not to take more wickets after dismissing Smith for 24.
Good weather was experienced for the first time of the match. Sound and enterprising batting by Plant brought his total to 64 when he was caught at mid-off. England’s 145 at stumps had been quickly piled up.
