WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.
Business was rather quiet on tho Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, bu't there was a firm undertone in tho markets and prices ''showed little change. Government loans showed a slightly firmer tendency, but supplies were scarce. The 4 per cent stock, 1949, sold at £lO5 ss. Bank shares were dull, the only feature being a. sale of National Bank of New Zealand at 745, a rise of Is on the previous best level this year. New Zealand were unchanged in dealings at 51s. Financial were dull. Christchurch Gas were firm on business at 355. Wellington Gas improved to 395, sellers 40s 3d. National Insurance were wanted a point up at 19s 3d, but South British were 3d off at 92s 3d. Browcries were a strong market, New Zealand advancing to 54s 3d, and Staples to 345, with no offers from holders. Miscellaneous industrial were very quiet. Mount Lyell were reportted sold at 21s 4d. _ More interest was shown in gold-mining shares, but quotations showed little change. Skippers had sales at 3id, Mount Morgan improved in business at 37s 3d to 38s. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
