RANGIOTU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RANGIOTU, Nov. 18. At a special meeting of the ltangiotu Tennis Club it was decided to hold the opening ceremony during the first week in December, to be followed by a dance in the evening. Mr J." Shaw (chairman) reported that owing to unfavourable weathor experienced generally the work of laying down the two courts in concrete had been somewhat delayed; however, the work was nearing completion and the contractors expected to have the job ready by the end of the month. The school children’s celebrations of Guy Fawkes night, which was postponed owing to rain, was held later when there was a large attendance of pupils, together with interested spectators. The centre of attraction was on a high hill situated immediately a.t the rear of the school grounds, where a big heap of dry pine sticks and faggots, with a number of the customary effigies of the notorious Guy Fawkes, was set alight, the huge bonfire making a spectacular sight for miles around, and with a liberal supply of fireworks the young folks thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
