OPPOSITION LEADER.

ADDRESS AT THAMES. Per Press Association. THAMES, Nov. 19. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr M. J. Savage) addressed a packed audience last evening and secured an enthusiastic reception. In the course of his address, Mr Savage, after charging the Government with having lifted the principle of universal superannuation from the Labour Party’s platform, stated that there was a ring of insincerity about tho Government’s declaration that it was in favour of the system. Ministers had declared that universal superannuation would be introduced as soon as the national finances would permit, but in an age of record production and vast possibilities for still further production the time had come for making the national finances serve the needs of the people. With every form of labour waiting and willing to serve, there was no substantial reason for any postponement of the introduction of the system.
