INCIDENT AT CHATEAU

STATEMENT BY PREMIER. (Bv Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) ' WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. The Prime Minister made a statement to the House to-day regarding the recent incident at the Chateau Tongariro. There were, he said, no witnesses to the incident and the only available statements, those of the participants, were so conflicting as to render it impossible at the present stage to form a judgment in connection with the happening. “It is understood,” added Air Forbes, “that Mr Cobbe contemplates taking civil proceedings against the other party. So far as criminal proceedings are concerned Air Cobbe has not up to the present made a complaint or laid information which would justify the police commencing a prosecution.”
