RUSSELL STREET SCHOOL.
ANNUAL ROAD RACE. The annual road race, over a threesmile course, was decided at the Russell Street School yesterday, the route being from the school along Fentherston and Ruahine Streets to Boundary Road thence via Roy and Matnmau • 1 Streets back to the school. A field of 13 boys presented themselves and the ■ winner .proved to be J. Adamson (Huias), -svho covered the course in 14min lOsec. A. Steedman (Rovers) was second in 14min 40sec, while D. James (Kiwis) filled third place m 15min SOsec . u , The club championship resulted:— Rovers 193, Kiwis 176, Huias 173, and Rangers 88. The personnel of the winning team was A. Steedman (cnpt.), R. Walker, A. Wasley, P Steedmnn, G. Proctor, W. Pringle, E. i Perrv, G. Heald and R. Hardman. ■! The officials were: Starter, Mr F . C. Campbell; conductor, Mr R. Brown: recorders. Misses Tankersley and i Curry; Scouts, A. Petrie and D. Hnr- | ris; marshals, L. Smith and B. Falliner. The chairman of the school commit-. . tee (Mr J. A. Grant) together with ; j other committeemen, was present to [' witness the contest, Mr Grant regaljing the contestants with refreshments Jat the close of the race.
