(To the Editor.) ,Sir,—May I once again remind your readers that the birthday party of the Children’s Home will be held in Pascal Street on • Saturday, October 5, at 2.30 p.m. The trustees and ladies’ committee most cordially invite the people of Palmerston North and surrounding districts to this function, ■ and confidently look forward to that valued help of their many friends which makes it possible to continue this Christ-like work. For twentynine years this Home lias served humanity in caring for and loving little children, who through no fault of their own have been deprived of home life. Here in a happy family of boys and girls they are given that which lias been denied them, and we know the work is more than woi-th while. The matron who knows so well the needs of the home has prepared a list, which will be seen below, of the gifts that would be of the greatest assistance in the upkeep of the Home ; and we sincerely trust that on Saturday, October 5, you will remember the little children who cannot help themselves.—Yours sincerely, G. Groceries, especially sugar, oatmeal, flour, cereals, jam, soap and eggs, coal and firewood, potatoes, tea towels, sewing cotton (40), garter and boiling elastic, single sheets and pillow cases, boys’ grey jerseys, grey material for shirts (cotton and flannel), trousers (all sizes), dressing combs and tooth brushes, school stationery of all description, girls’ stockings (all sizes), boots (sizes 12 to 3), scrubbing and nail brushes, enamel quart measure, large enamel saucepan (24 pints).
