TRADE AGREEMENTS.
LEAGUE CONSIDERATION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 26. The Second Commission of the League Assembly to-day adopted the resolution moved on Tuesday by the British member, Dr. E. L. Burgin (Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade) recommending Governments to conclude bilateral agreements based on the “most-favoured-nation” clause with the object of encouraging freer trade, subject, if necessary, to the provision that in the event of a large variation in the rate of exchange between the currencies of the contracting parties agreements may be revised at short notice. The Assembly recognises as the ultimate objective a return to an international gold standard, but points out that effective measures to remove impediments to world trade need not wait on tliß restoration of the £old stan.da.iG. The Assembly is expected to conclude its business tounorrow, but m view of the international situation it is probable it will adjourn without dismissing.
