YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Thcro was a slightly' better tone in tho Wellington stock and share markets yesterday, but quotations showed little change on those of Tuesday. Bank shares wore quiet, but prices were firmer. Government leans wore steady. The 4 per cents., 1940. sold at £lO2 ss, and £lO2 2s 6d and tho 3 5 per cents., 1938-52, wore done at £lO9. Pastoral and financial is-ucs wore rather weak. Dalgety cased to £8 and Goldsbrough Mort to 29s 9d. Mortgage Corporation again sold at 5s 8d and New Zealand Guarantee Corporation were traded at 5s sd. Southland Meat firmed to 795, sellers 80s 6d. Breweries were unchanged, except Tooths, which firmed Is 3d to 535. There was a better inquiry for miscellaneous industrial and trading issues, and business was done in several lines at about lato rates. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
