SUBSIDY ON RATES.

NO ALTERATION THIS SESSION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. In the House of Representatives, Air H. S. S. Kyle, asked the Minister of Finance to-day whether the Government will introduce legislation authorising the payment of a pound for pound subsidy on roads other than highways instead of the present subsidy or, rates. Mr Coates replied that it was not intended to deal with the question of altering the present basis of subsidy on rates this session.
