SALUTARY FINES

CHINESE IN COURT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. Fines totalling £385 were imposed by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., following an opium raid in Haining Street premises yesterday, morning and the arrest of 17 Chinese for being occupiers and permitting their premises to be used. Lowe Hoy was fined £CO and the other fines were from £3O down to £l2 10s.
