MANAWATU STATISTICS.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 23 Interesting statistics regarding the aero clubs operating in the Dominion at the present time are given in an appendix to the Defence Report presented to Parliament. The table gives the aero clubs a total membership of 2930. Anckland heads the list in nearly all departments in the table for the operations of last year, having seven aircraft that have flown 2600 hours, training 19 pilots, and possessing a aural 1 membership of 757. Canterbury comes next on. the list, so far as flying operations are concerned, with 22 new pilots and 1571 hours flying, although the total membership is only 234. Western Federated (North Island) has the second largest membership, 429, and West Coast United (South Island), 400 members, third, although it is the latest club approved. Manawatu, the only club in the list not approved by the Government for the purposes of subsidy, trained seven pilots, and flew 698 hours, the membership being 70.
