TABLE TENNIS.

AUCKLAND v. MANAWATU. When the Auckland representative table tennis players were at the New Zealand championships, held in Wellington recently, an invitation was extended to them to play a friendly match with a Manawatu team prior to their returning to Auckland. The players came to Palmerston North on Wednesday at mid-day and played h match with local members in St. Patrick’s Hall on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the local players by 35 games to 4. Among the Auckland players were F. Paton (the 1935 New Zealand champion), C. Burke (Auckland champion) and J. Munns (semi-finalist in tlie Auckland championships), also Miss Bond (the Auckland champion and runner-up at the New Zealand championship). The Auckland players are a very strong side, having quite recently had a very convincing win over’ Wellington, and their standard of play was slightly better than Manawatu’s, and they were more consistent than the local - ; players.
